In 2017 I worked with Michelle Young from Ink Wing Academy in conjunction with the Rural Centre for Shared Education, The Pushkin Trust and Fermanagh & Omagh District Council on the design and production of the publication of ‘Romeo & Juliet – Alike in Dignity’.
This was a shared education programme for year 8 pupils from Omagh High School and Scared Heart College, Omagh where they got the opportunity to present their re-enactment of Romeo & Juliet with a modern twist. The conversations between the characters took place over Snap Chat.
The pupils used contemporary media and photography to capture their drama and learned how hatred and division between two noble families, the Montagues and the Capulets had devastating consequences. Steeped in grief following the tragic deaths, the warring families became reconciled. It was a great project to have been part of.
