Hello my name is
Colin and I'm a
I design and organise the printing of small and large format print items for my clients, including books, magazines, newsletters, leaflets, flyers and posters, logos, stationery and banners as well as many other design and print items. If you need something designed and printed,
then I can do it.
I create every project with care and attention, and because I work with a network of quality printers I can always find the best print solution, turn around time and price for my clients.
If you have a project in mind I would love to hear about it.

I love designing books, I designed my first book in 2008 a year after I began as a freelance designer. Since then I've designed quite a few but I'm always very keen to design more.
The key to creating a successful book is in the planing and structure. I have a good network of specialist book printers who I work with and an excellent proofreader to call upon should the project require it.
I've worked on and created the artwork for a number of monthly Magazines and Newsletters, one of which I worked on for four and a half years.
Setting up the first edition is key to the success of a publication, because it is at this stage that all of the paragraph and character styles, master pages, colour palette and general feel of the publication are set, so that month in, month out, the next edition also has a consistent appearance to the previous editions.
When creating a newsletter I use a similar approach to creating a magazine. The first page is normally different from a magazine as a magazine has a cover, newsletter first page is normally an editorial page with stories and content from the publication.
Initial design is treated in much the same way as creating a magazine, where bye styles, colours, pages are all designed and approved before the first edition. Then when the newsletter is created it's just a case of populating the content into an existing layout.
There are a few different sizes and formats for leaflets, and I design and can organise the printing of them all. Whatever you need I can organise it creatively and cost effectively to get it printed.
I have access to a large image stock library through Adobe Stock and I include the use of the images as part of the job unlike other designers who charge a fee for every stock image they use. With my jobs it's all included, no hidden costs.
Flyer and Poster Design
Flyers and posters, can vary in size from A3 or above, down to A7 in size. I can design and print whatever is needed and however many are needed from 1 to 100000+.
As with my other design items, any stock images used in the artwork are included in the price, no hidden costs, and with posters and flyers I aim to have a turnaround time of four working days from getting the job to it arriving with the client (based on design approval first day, two to three days for print).
Logos are such a personal thing, they help customers identify with your business and are seen as a trust mark. There are different levels of logos, from very simple logos that take a few hours to more complex and in depth logo creations that can take a few weeks.
While you are getting a logo why not get stationery at the same time. If it's all created at the same time I can discount the stationery design and print.
First impressions mean everything and in business this normally means making and leaving a great impression with effective stationery, business card, letterhead and compliment slip.
We all meet so many people that it's sometimes hard to remember names let alone telephone numbers and emails, that's where professional stationery makes a statement and helps you get remembered.
Banners are so useful for exhibitions, setting behind a table at an event or maybe for having in the office for visiting clients to see. They'll help you stand out from across a crowded room.
They used to be very expensive but in recent years the price has come down considerably. I can design and get these printed for less than you would think.
Every project I work on is created with care and attention, and because I work with a network of quality printers I can always find the best print solution, turn around time and price for my clients. I've outlined the the steps from start to finish below.
Initially content that is to be included in a design is provided to me at the start of a job, normally via email, Dropbox, DVD, pen drive etc. This will include all text, images, logos, graphs and anything that is to be included in the design.
After reviewing the supplied content I will discuss the design requirements with the client to set a tone for the work to be undertaken, either on the telephone or face to face in person. This will include the tone and message that needs to be presented, how the artwork will look, what colours will be used etc. Whether there are any mandatory elements that need to go into the design that I need to be aware of.
By discussing this with the client at the start, we can set and agree the tone and style to be applied to the artwork.
Once the design requirement have been discussed I then start creating the design concept/s. The number of concepts can vary from project to project but every design starts out as a sketch, a good idea. Once I've got the good idea identified I then discuss this with my client to ensure that it's in line with what they have imagined for the project.
Approval of good idea
On approval of the good idea I then draw up the design/s, drop in photos, stock images where needed and provide this as a proof to my client. At this stage the design/s will be looking very sharp and almost complete, they just won't be artworked (print ready).
By seeking approval of the design, I will then have an approved tone and design style to apply to the design when artworking it for print.
Send client a PDF by email for proof
reading and approval
Following stage three I will provide the client with a PDF proof via email to check for grammar, spelling, punctuation within the layout prior to approval to go to production.
Final approval and delivery
On receiving approval that the artwork is correct, it will then go to production. Delivery of printed material will be directly to client's address.
